What led him to Chiropractic?
"I was a 21-year-old athlete who had never had a back or neck problem before. That changed when I injured my neck playing in a rugby match. For weeks I was in pain, barely able to move my neck and unable to stop the pain. I saw my family physician who prescribed medication, I saw an orthopedist who prescribed more medication but at the end of the day I was pretty much the same, in pain and unable to do the things I loved the most. Finally, one of my teammates suggested that I go see his chiropractor, Dr. Richard Markland."
"Never before had I gone in to a doctor's office feeling sick or in pain only to leave feeling pretty much fine, but on that day I did, and it changed my life. Dr. Markland examined my neck, took x-rays, showed me where the problem was, and then performed an adjustment on my neck and upper back. Afterward, my neck felt so good that later that same day I was able to return to rugby practice after being out for weeks. I was so impressed that I eventually decided to quit my job and enroll at Life Chiropractic College".
"My favorite part of practicing chiropractic? I would have to say it's treating patients who are new to chiropractic itself. I often see patients who had resisted seeing a chiropractor but who upon the recommendation of a friend or a loved one comes to "try us out". The change that occurs when these patients see that chiropractic is safe and effective is always priceless."
